1. Purpose and Scope

This guide covers printing from multiple POS stations to kitchen, front-counter, and other LAN printers, including orders from online channels. Cloud, Bluetooth, and USB printers require separate validation based on their actual connection capabilities.

Before configuring a printer, decide:

Which POS stations connect directly to each physical printer.

Which order sources each connected POS station should print.

Do not configure multiple POS stations to automatically print the same order source to the same physical printer. Doing so can cause duplicate tickets, delayed printing, or connection problems.

2. Key Settings

Print Range

Option

Meaning

Typical use

Local Device Only

Handles orders placed on this POS station only.

Use when a secondary POS connects directly to a local printer.

Print across channels

Allows this POS station to print orders from selected sources.

Use when the main POS handles online orders or orders placed on other POS stations.

Sources under Print across channels

Setting

Prints orders from

Other POS orders

Other POS stations in the store.

Kiosk Orders

Self-service kiosks.

QR Code Orders

QR-code ordering.

Online & Mini-Program Orders

Online ordering and mini-programs.

Third-Party Delivery Orders

Third-party delivery platforms.

Print Range
controls which orders reach the printer. Kitchen-ticket copy counts, customer-receipt settings, product selection, and notes control what gets printed and how many copies are produced. Check these separately.

3. Option One: Every POS Connects to the LAN Printer

3.1 Connection path

Every POS station that needs to print connects directly to the printer over the local network.

Main POS ── LAN ── Kitchen Printer
Secondary POS ── LAN ── Kitchen Printer
Additional POS ── LAN ── Kitchen Printer

3.2 When to use it

Every POS needs fast printing for its own orders.

Staff need to print or reprint manually from each POS.

Low latency matters, and the printer supports the required number of simultaneous connections.

3.3 Configuration rules

Station

Printer connection

Print Range

Source selections

Main POS

Connect to the required LAN printer.

Print across channels

Select only the additional sources needed, such as online, QR, kiosk, or third-party delivery. Do not select Other POS orders
.

Other POS stations

Connect directly to the printer they need.

Local Device Only

No cross-channel sources are needed.

The main POS handles selected non-local channels. Leave Other POS orders
off so it does not print another POS station's orders again. Each other POS prints only orders created on that station.

3.4 Benefits

The ordering POS sends print jobs directly to the LAN printer. This shorter path usually reduces delay.

Every POS with a working printer connection can print or reprint manually from that station.

3.5 Risks and limitations

POS stations may keep long-lived printer connections. Too many simultaneous connections can make a printer reject connections or report an abnormal status.

Connection limits depend on the printer model; settings alone cannot guarantee stable multi-POS printing.

Every added POS requires its own connection, print range, and product-rule checks.

3.6 Before going live

Confirm every POS can reach the LAN printer's IP address and print port.

On the main POS, select only the required additional channels; leave Other POS orders
off.

Set this printer to Local Device Only
on every other POS.

Test from each POS and check for connection errors, duplicate tickets, and delays.

4. Option Two: Print Through the Main POS

4.1 Connection path

Only the main POS connects directly to the printer. Other POS stations do not add that printer.
