Shift setting

What is Shift?

Shift refers to a defined period during which transactions and operational activities are conducted by designated staff members. 

A shift represents a specific time period, typically a portion of a day (e.g., morning, afternoon, evening), during which transactions are processed and recorded.

 

Setup shift

Activate shift

Shift function can be activated in the Back Office.

  1. Log in the Back Office with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the sidebar of the Back Office, select Staff > Shift > Shift Settings.
  3. Activating Shift function by enabling the status.

After enable the shift function, the POS should log out from the current account and login again to update the shift function.

 

Shift setting

Shift Setting included 3 parts, all Settings can only be set after the shift function is enabled.

  • End of day
  • Share Shift: Employees share a shift
  • Blind handover: Hide cash information when changing shifts

End of day

An end of day report is a comprehensive summary of transactions, sales, and operational activities completed during a business day.

It can be setup in the Back Office.

  1. Log in the Back Office with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the sidebar of the Back Office, select Staff > Shift > Shift Settings.
  3. It required to setting the maximum period for end of day (7 or 14 days)

It will appear in here on POS after the shift has started.

The end-of-day process will automatically activate once the shift has been opened. However, manual closing will be required during the closing process.

 

Share Shift

It means employees share a shift, Sharing a shift refers to multiple employees sharing the same shift report during a single shift period.

  1. Once enabled, employees will share the shift; if disabled, it will become an individual shift.

 

 

Blind handover

It means: Hide cash information when changing shifts. A feature to show or hide the cash drawer report and expected cash. (The highlighted section will be hidden)

Shift entry on POS

For Web POS:

  1. Log in the Web POS with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the dashboard of the Web POS, enter the  Order interface.
  3. Click "More" at the bottom left corner of the order interface.

For Tablet POS:

  1. Log in the Tablet POS with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the dashboard of the Tablet POS, enter the  Order interface.
  3. Click the account icon at the top right corner of the order interface.

 

Start and End Shift

Opening: At the beginning of a shift, employees start their session by logging into the system, which initializes transaction tracking and operational metrics.

Transaction Handling: During the shift, employees use the system to ring up sales, accept payments, issue receipts, and manage customer orders.
Closing: At the end of the shift, employees reconcile cash registers, close out transactions, and perform other closing tasks to prepare for the next shift or business day.

Start shift

Follow the steps to set start the shift :

  1. Log in the Tablet POS with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the dashboard of the Tablet POS, enter the Order/Order Record interface.
  3. Click the account icon at the top right corner of the order interface.

4. Enter the amount of cash available in the cash drawer now, and click the button "Start shift", and confirm the cash you entered, then start the shift.

End shift

Follow the steps to set end the shift :

  1. Log in the Tablet POS with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the dashboard of the Tablet POS, enter the Order/Order Record interface.
  3. Click the account icon at the top right corner of the order interface and click "Shift".
  4. You can open the cash drawer and check the amount of cash in it first.
  5. Click "End current shift".

6. Input the Actual cash amount you check at the step 4, and then click "End shift".

That's it. This shift is over.

Here are some things to know:

  • When ordering, please ensure the shift has started. If the shift is not started when opening, the sales record will not be calculated in the shift.
  • Once the shift ends, the record is not amendable. If there are mistakes in the record during the shift that need to be refunded or cancelled, it will not alter the data of the shift report.
