About Online Ordering

Online ordering refers to the ordering process where customers are able to purchase goods and services via a website or a mobile app. For F&B industry, Grabfood and Foodpanda are two notable successful models of online ordering that brings unlimited convenience to the customers. Not only typical food delivery platform, the restaurant POS systems have also been becoming much more innovative that in-house online ordering is made possible, rather than relying on third-party platforms.

 

Functionalities of Online Ordering

Online ordering within the POS system is no longer a new thing in the market. With the implementation of in-house online ordering, it makes the ordering process much more convenient for the customers while ensuring that the business is able to catch up with the current trend in the industry. Here are some of the functionalities of online ordering:

  1. Digitalized Menu. With this implementation, customers are able to browse through a digitalized menu, have a full control and overview on every items.
  2. Order Placement. Customers are able to place order instantly for immediate or scheduled delivery or pick up. 
  3. Payment Process. Customers are able to pay with their desired payment methods that have been integrated with the system, while also having an option to pay cash upon delivery or pick up.
  4. Order Status. Customers are able to receive periodic updates on the status of their order, through a pop-up notification, or by text messages. The status is all real-time so that the customers can plan ahead for their item pick up or delivery.
  5. Customer Loyalty. With the implementation of online ordering, it offers an opportunity to the business owners to collect customer. Hence, it also allow customers to collect points and enjoy rewards while they shop online. 

 

How Does It Work In Orderpin POS System?

In the Orderpin POS system, there is an online program that business owners can deploy to allow customers to order online. In this section, we will discuss this feature in the separate view as usual, namely the merchant journey and customer journey.

 

Merchant Journey

  1. Log in the Back Office with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the sidebar of the Back Office, select Customer > Online Program > Program Settings.

Before launching it live, you might want to set the rules for Program Push.

  1. Log in the Back Office with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the sidebar of the Back Office, select Customer > Online Program > Program Push.

Once everything has been set, there's a QR code that is generated within the system that you can present to the customers and they can start placing order by scanning the QR code.

 

Customer Journey

  1. Once the customers scan the QR code, they will be redirected to the online program. As shown, customers can choose either Order Delivery or Order Pick Up.
  2. Then, they can choose the items they would like to order from the menu.
  3. Once it's confirmed, then the customers can proceed to order now.
  4. Lastly, it will be shown to the customers that the order has already been successfully placed and live updates of the item status will be available.
