POS Ordering

About POS Ordering

POS Ordering is generally the backbone of the POS ordering system where it enhances and streamlines the ordering process, while helping business owners to improve efficiency at the same time. For POS ordering, it is predominantly navigated by the restaurant staffs and the orders are punched on the POS terminal device that is stationed at the counter.

How does it work In Orderpin POS System?

In Orderpin POS system, restaurant staffs are able to use either Table Order or Menu Order to punch the orders for the customers.

Table Order

Table Order can only be used after the Serving Method is set to Pay After Meal.

  1. Log in the Tablet POS with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the dashboard of the Tablet POS, select Order then will enter the Order Center.

In the upper right corner, you can switch between different display modes of the table.

As usual, the restaurant staff will get the table number of the customers and then proceed with the order after clicking on the table.

2. Choose the items that are needed by the customers and proceed with place order.

3. Then, the table will be shown as occupied, which is also shown in the table layout.

Menu Order

  1. Log in the Tablet POS with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the dashboard of the Tablet POS, select Order then will enter the Ordre Center.
  3. Choose the order way:Dine In/Takeaway/Delivery/Bar tab.
  4. Then choose the items that the customers need on the menu. For example, choose the Dine in order, after that the restaurant staff can determine if this is a Dine-in or Non Dine-in order. Let's say if this order is a dine-in order, then a table number will need to be inserted.

2. Once the order is punched, then the table will shown like this.

Barcode Scanner Ordering (POS)

Barcode Scanner Ordering allows you to scan product barcodes directly into the POS cart, enabling faster and more efficient order taking — perfect for F&B outlets selling packaged goods.

How to Enable Barcode Scanner

  1. Connect your barcode scanner
Plug your scanner into the POS device via USB or Bluetooth. Ensure your scanner is configured in keyboard input mode (HID Mode).

  2. Check Compatibility
Most standard barcode scanners are supported. However, hardware compatibility may vary depending on your device model and POS environment.

Product Code Mapping

To ensure barcode ordering works correctly:

  • Go to Backoffice > Products > Product List

  • Click Edit on the product

  • Input the Product Code field with the barcode number (this is what the scanner will match when scanning)

  • Save the changes

How to Use

  1. First, make sure each product has a Product Code added in Backoffice > Products > Product List.
This code should match the barcode you want to scan.

  2. Then, on the POS ordering page, scan the barcode:

    • If it’s a single-variant product, it will be automatically added to the cart.

    • If it’s a multi-variant product, the system will redirect you to the variant selection page.

Benefits of POS Ordering

By taking orders on the POS terminal device, it actually ensures that the orders are much more accurate and effective as it involves a verbal interaction between the restaurant staff and the customers. Errors can be minimized, or even when there is an error, it can be corrected promptly in the system, unlike a traditional ordering system where you need to spend time figuring out the mistakes. Moreover, it also helps customers who do not own a smartphone to place orders in a restaurant and making sure that customer service is properly done.

Conclusion

It is a no brainer that a POS ordering can be very beneficial to every restaurant operator. Orderpin POS aims to streamline every operational process in a restaurant and bringing you the best ever experience to every business owner in the F&B industry.
