Call waiter is a feature developed in a POS system that is used to streamline the communication between the customers and the staffs in a restaurant or a hospitality environment. When we talk about the call waiter feature, it is very much associated with the customer service which every F&B business owner needs to consider.

 

Functionalities of Call Waiter Feature

Traditionally, the restaurant staffs need to be very alert of every reaction from the dine-in customers because they might receive additional orders from them, or in some extreme cases, getting complaint on the slow serving time. It could be very disruptive to the waiters as they have many customers to serve, not just one particular customer. Therefore, the invention of POS system has effectively reduced the hassles which leads to a better quality of service.

Digitalized ordering system has provided a greater access to the customers to call for waiter's assistance as they are able to execute it with their mobile device. The restaurant operators will be able to receive the notifications on which table where this request is coming from and hence assigning waiters to attend the concerns.

 

How Does It Work In Orderpin POS?

Setup of Call Waiter

In Orderpin POS system, before customers are able to call waiter, business owner needs to activate this function in the POS system. To do this, you need to follow the following steps:

  1. Log in the Back Office with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the sidebar of the Back Office, select Settings > Store Management > Order Channel Settings > QR Ordering.
  3. You can enable/disable the Call Waiter Status, and Request Options can also be edited.

 

Customers Journey

Once the Call Waiter status has been activated, then customers who are dining in the restaurant will be able to use the feature directly on their respective mobile phone that is used to place order. 

Let's say the customers are on Table 202, and they need assistance with the ordering.

1. First of all, after they scan the menu QR on the table, they will be directed to a menu page where they will be able to find a button named 'Call Waiter'. Next, they will choose the reason for calling the waiter.

 

Merchants Journey

When the Call Waiter has been triggered by the customers, there will be a notification on the POS system that notifies the operator regarding the assistance needed.

  1. Log in the Tablet POS with your OrderPin POS System credentials.
  2. On the dashboard of the Tablet POS, select Order,there will be a pop-up window in the upper right corner of the POS prompting the specific table to call the waiter for specific services

1. Let's say if the operator decides to handle it later, then the option of 'Handle Later' will be chosen.

2. Click on Serving Request on the bottom left corner of the window, and you will be seeing the pending tasks. If it's been executed, then click Done and the request is completed.

After completion, it will be displayed in "Done"
