About Move Table
In a Foods and Beverages business, it is very common that you need to move table. Apart from that, an order that is originally from a particular table can also be moved and merged with an existing table within the POS system.
Examples of Move Table
Usually, the feature of move table is very useful and effective for the businesses such as restobar, sit-down restaurants and etc where tables are limited especially during peak hours. Here are some of the examples where move table plays its significant role.
- When customers have ordered something and assigned with a smaller table first while waiting to be seated at a larger table during peak hour.
- When a group of friends decided to move and merge table in order to share a single bill.
- When a group of three decided to join the table with a solo diner.
How Does It Work In Cloud POS System?
Operate in Table list
The Cloud POS System makes moving table very accessible. Below are the procedures to move tables within the restaurant POS setup:
1. On the POS order page, let's say the orders are placed on vip1.
2. But customers would love to be moved to Table vip2 instead because it's more comfortable and larger, thus in the POS you have to click the original Table vip2 and be redirected to the order details page.
Click on the button on the top right corner and choose Move from the dropdown list.
Next, you will be directed to another page where all the available tables will be shown, select the VIP2 you want to move to.You need to click on Table vip2 and confirm the changes.
Finally, the order page will show that Table vip2 is now occupied whereas Table vip1 is vacant again.
Now, a table is successfully moved.
Operate in Table layout
Compared to the table list, we provide a table layout that can better reflect the actual location changes of the restaurant and is more intuitive to operate.
If you haven’t enabled the table layout, you need to enable this feature and set it up in Table-Layout
In the table layout, vip1 is displayed like this：
Then you can just hold down the table icon and drag it across the page and place it above the table icon you want to move to.
Then you can just hold the table VIP1 icon and drag to the vip2 you want to move to.
You can see that when vip1 appears above vip2, the table color of vip2 will be grayed out.
After you release your hand, it will land on VIP2. Click confirm in the pop-up notification column. The table is moved.
What If Merge Table?
Merging table is generally based on the concept of moving table. It is very much applicable when two different tables decided to be combined and pay their bill together. Of course, split payment is also possible even if the tables are combined.
Operate in Table list
Let's say there are 2 occupied tables in the restaurant right now.
The customers from Table VIP1 and Table VIP2 know each other and they decided to sit together on the same table. Let's say customers from Table VIP2 are to be moved to Table VIP1, what you have to do is to click on Table VIP2 and click on Move.
Next, just proceed to click the Table VIP1 which is occupied.
The items will be displayed under the same order when the tables have been merged.
Eventually, there is only ONE table shown, which is Table VIP1.
