How to Connect a Cash Drawer to a Thermal Printer?

Connecting a cash drawer to a thermal printer allows for automatic opening of the drawer when a transaction is completed (Cash payment only), enhancing the efficiency of point-of-sale operations. Follow these steps to set up and configure the connection.

Steps to Connect a Cash Drawer to a Thermal Printer:

1. Check Compatibility:

   • Ensure that your cash drawer and thermal printer are compatible. A 12V cash drawer must be connected to a 12V printer, and a 24V cash drawer must be connected to a 24V printer.

2. Gather Necessary Components:

   • Cash drawer
   • Thermal printer

3. Connect the Hardware:

   • Step 1: Turn off the thermal printer to ensure safety during the connection process.
   • Step 2: Locate the port on the thermal printer.
   • Step 3: Insert one end of the cable into the port on the thermal printer.

Direct cable connection to the terminal is not supported for cash drawer ejection.
