All In One POS - Tablet

In the POS system, a tablet device plays an important role in managing daily operation of the store, such as handling sales transactions, tracking inventory as well as handling customer data. A tablet is widely acceptable and used by business owners due to some of the undisputed benefits:

Portability

Tablets are generally light-weighted and easy to be carried around, which allows the staffs to move around the store and makes the interaction with customers relatively easy. With this high level of portability, it enhances the customer experience and at the same time it encourages the staffs to further understand the customers needs.

Ease of Use

Tablets offer intuitive and touch-based interfaces that are easy to learn and use. In the fast-moving industry nowadays, the use of tablets are quite common because a tablet device has been very advance which allows the staffs to learn all the features easily.

Cost Effectiveness

In general, a tablet device is much more affordable than having a POS terminal device which is also not as portable as the table device. Business owners do not have to invest heavily on hardwares. Moreover, a tablet device is very versatile where it can be easily paired with several other hardwares such as a receipt printer, cash drawer and others.

How Can Tablet Be Used as a POS?

Dine In

When we are talking about dine-in, it can actually be performed in the form of Table Order.

Table Order

In the table order, it's much more common in the Full Service Restaurant (FSR) where orders can be taken by the restaurant staffs on the table arrangement layout using a portable tablet device. In the POS system, the procedures are as follows:

1. On the tablet POS device, there are available tables that have been set before from the backoffice where restaurant staffs can click on the table to be directed to the menu for the order placement.

2. Before proceeding the menu, the restaurant staff needs to input the amount of people at the table itself, for example, there are 2 persons.

3. Then, the restaurant staff can start to select the item that the customers need and the list will be displayed on the right side of the tablet.

4. Once the orders are decided and finalized, the restaurant staffs can then proceed to checkout and the order is completed.

Takeaway

For the takeaway order, the procedures are almost similar to that in the dine in order. Takeaway orders are much more common in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) and it's concept is based on Pay Before Meal.

1. On the POS tablet device, select Takeaway.

2. Then, the restaurant staff can start to select the item that the customers need and the list will be displayed on the right side of the tablet.

3. Once the orders are decided and finalized, the restaurant staffs can then proceed to checkout and the order is completed.

Discount

In Orderpin POS system, discounts can be set and determined based on the business needs from the back office, and the discount can be assigned to the specific item, or the whole bill before checkout.

Type of Discounts

Order Discount

1. On the checkout page, select the Discount button.

2. After that, you will be directed to this page where the order discount type can be selected, either By Amount or By Percentage. Let's say in this case, the discount is by percentage, and it's 10%

3. Once the discount has successfully been applied, then the final amount payable will be displayed.

Split Order

Splitting order is a very important function in the POS system where it allows the division of a bill of goods and services into two or more parts. This is particularly very useful for a group of people who are dining on a same table, but prefer to pay for their respective item separately.

How to Split Order?

In Orderpin POS, the order splitting occurs on the checkout screen, and you are able to choose the item individually for the individual bill settlement.

1. On the checkout page, select Split Order.

2. Then, you will be directed to the Split Order page where you can select the items to be split.

3. Select the items and then proceed to Add to New Bill.

4. Then, if more orders need to be split, the same procedure can be performed as to Add to New Bill.

5. Once splitting orders is completed, then proceed to check out.

6. Once the first bill has been settled, it will be shown as PAID and you can proceed to pay for another order.

7. Once every bill has been settled, it will be shown in the Order Record.
